I love a pop of color as much as the next girl, but when it comes to packing for a business trip or planning my wardrobe for a jam packed work week, I am the queen of the Little Black Dress {LBD}.
Included on every “fashion must have” list the little black dress, is the solution to a multitude of style dilemmas. If selected in the right silhouette, it is the dress that can take you from desk-to- dinner without sacrificing style for professionalism.
Here’s how to make of the most of a little dress that makes a big statement and why it’s my go to for business travel:
Think of your LBD as a blank canvas. Pack lots of accessories to adorn and accessorize. If you are taking the LBD on a business trip, bring accessories for day and large pieces to take it into night.
Classic cut. Choose a black dress in a classic cut with a textured fabric, details and accents that accentuate the waist. Select a plunging back worn at night for doing business after dark and with a blazer for day.
Avoid the TOO’s. For wear to work options, stay away from black dresses that are too short, too shiny or too tight. Instead opt for those that will work for day and be appropriate for meetings. When selecting keep the focus on business.
Be bold. Take two to three black dresses on a business trip and sprinkle them with a dash of daring like a dangerously high stilettos, oversized necklaces and a killer cuff to avoid playing it too safe.
Nighttime Numbers. For weekend events, evening events that are not work related or weddings, the LBD can take a sexier turn. Go with a stand-out fabric choice like lace.
Use these tips to turn your next LBD moment from ordinary to extraordinary.
